About Mark T. Stern — Personal Injury and Real Estate Attorney

Mark T. Stern, Esq., is a personal injury and real estate attorney based in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Florida. He is licensed to practice law in Florida (2009), Connecticut (2002), and New York (2003), and operates the Law Offices of Mark T. Stern, PA, as a sole practitioner serving all 31 municipalities in Broward County.

Before practicing law, Mark spent 12 years inside the insurance industry — investigating claims, evaluating injuries, and negotiating settlements from the insurer’s side of the table.

How 12 Years Inside the Insurance Industry Became Mark’s Strongest Asset

Most personal injury attorneys build their careers entirely on the plaintiff’s side. Mark T. Stern took a different path. He spent the first 12 years of his professional career working for insurance carriers, learning how claims are investigated, valued, delayed, and denied before ever representing an injured client.

The Robert Plan of New York — Lynbrook, NY (1990–1994)

Mark began his career at The Robert Plan of New York in 1990, where he processed personal lines automobile underwriting endorsements, handled first- and third-party claim inquiries, and supervised 15 customer service representatives. He advanced to First Party Property Damage Claims Examiner, investigating, evaluating, and resolving property damage claims for over four years.

Farmers/Zurich Personal Insurance — Rocky Hill, CT (1994–1999)

Mark joined Farmers/Zurich in 1994 as a Senior Claims Representative and Litigation Specialist. Over five years, he independently investigated liability claims, evaluated bodily injuries, and defended and negotiated bodily injury and uninsured/underinsured motorist claims.

He prepared litigation plans for defense counsel, organized the investigation and defense of claims linked to an identified fraud ring, and completed C.P.C.U. coursework in Advanced Casualty Claim Evaluation and Negotiation Skills. Mark also handled first- and third-party commercial auto, garage keepers, and personal lines auto claims.

Walsh Claim Services — Madison, CT (1999–2002)

Mark moved to Walsh Claim Services in 1999 as a Casualty Claims Adjuster. He performed thorough field investigations, secured statements from interested parties, evaluated and negotiated injury claims to resolution, and prepared reports for clients — work he continued through law school at Quinnipiac University.

Why This Background Matters for Your Case

That 12-year career inside the insurance system means Mark knows exactly how adjusters assign value to claims, which documentation forces higher settlement offers, and what delay tactics insurers use to pressure claimants into accepting less than their case is worth.

Whether you were injured in a car accident, truck collision, or hit and run anywhere in Broward County, Mark brings a perspective that the vast majority of plaintiff-side attorneys lack.
